What's in the Name?

FMR is a feed industry acronym for ‘fish meal replacement.’  Utilizing its proprietary process, Oberon produces a protein meal ingredient to serve as a replacement for fish meal [more on Process].  Attributes of Oberon’s product include total protein quantities and an amino acid balance that compare favorably with fair average quality (FAQ) fish meal [more on the Datasheet].  In addition, Oberon’s product is free of contaminants that may be present in FAQ fishmeal, including mercury and pesticides.

Oberon is a mythical character whose first appearances date back to medieval French and German literature, but whose most notable cameo appears in Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.  There, Oberon is the king of the forest spirits.  Typically, Oberon is endowed with great powers of transformation over people and objects around him.  By selecting this character as namesake for the company, Oberon FMR’s founders sought to channel King Oberon’s transformative powers – in the company’s case the ability to derive a valuable feed ingredient from an unrecognized by-product of food and beverage manufacture [more on Process].
