Randy Swenson, Ph.D., MBA
Acting Chairman
Chief Executive Officer
Currently, the CEO and ad-hoc Chairman of the Board, Randy joined Oberon in 2005 to create the business strategy, drive capitalization, and provide Executive Management. Prior to joining Oberon, Randy founded the Denver-based biotech company, Proteome Resources, and still serves as Chairman. Randy has had numerous roles in Operations (V.P., American Management Systems, V.P., Corning Inc.) as well as Consulting (V.P., Mercer Management Consulting), Investment Banking (Director, Bathgate Capital Partners) and Venture Capital (Analyst, Hillman Ventures). Randy holds B.A. in Environmental Studies from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from Duke University, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Andrew J. Logan, Ph.D.

V.P. of Research & Development
As a co-founder of Oberon, Andrew has thus far led Oberon’s nutritional and product development research. Andrew first traveled to Norway during graduate school where he gained experience in the aquaculture industry. Together with Seth Terry, he formed the concept of generating SCP from food by-products shortly after his return in 2000. From that point until 2003, Andrew and Seth jointly conducted laboratory-scale SCP research. From 2003 to 2005, Andrew worked as a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow in Norway. There, Andrew conducted pilot-scale research related to SCP production, handling, and feed manufacturing methods. Andrew holds a B.S. in biology with a microbiology focus from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. His M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado where he researched wastewater and drinking water microbiology and engineering. An engineering consultant since 2005, Andrew brings additional expertise to the Oberon team including water treatment chemistry, process applications, project management, and 15 years of construction experience.

Seth S. Terry, Ph.D., MBA
V.P. of Operations
Seth is a co-founder of Oberon. He has particular expertise in the molecular biology and biochemistry that provide the foundation for appropriate bacterial growth and the successful generation of SCP material. Seth also has significant experience in the operation and optimization of biological wastewater treatment processes, such as those that will be modified at existing food-processing facilities for the production of Oberon’s SCP products. Seth has worked on both water and wastewater projects as an engineering consultant since 2003. In addition to his technical work, Seth holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO, an MBA through Regis University in Denver, CO, as well as an undergraduate degree in History and European Cultural Studies from Princeton University. Seth is fluent in French and Spanish.

David Tze
Board Member
David applies pioneering strategies and technology to developing sectors within established industries. He co-founded Aquacopia. Previously, he was VP of Strategy of the venture-funded NetworkOil equipment marketplace for the oil and gas industry, spearheaded tech consultancy Concrete, and co-founded Cache Networks, a novel digital television platform. David serves on the boards of Oberon, Snapperfarm, Ocean Farm Technologies, and The Ocean Stewards Institute. He has an A.B. in economics from Princeton.

Mark Lupa, Ph.D.
Board Member
In 1998, Mark brought his research skills and business experience to Tango to focus on technology and Life Science investments. He is currently working with Taligen Therapeutics and BioResponse, two early stage biotechnology companies. Mark’s business experience came first in the brewing industry as founder, CEO and CFO of Tabernash Brewing Company, which was formed in 1993 and merged with Left Hand Brewing in 1998. He remains on the Board of Directors of the Left Hand and Tabernash Brewing Company. Mark holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M. Phil. from the University of Sussex (England) in Biomedical Engineering as well as a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Lund, Sweden. He conducted neuroscience research for fifteen years at institutions worldwide, including the University of Colorado and the University of California at San Francisco, publishing 18 papers and two book chapters during this time.

Albert Tacon, Ph.D.
Advisor
Albert is Aquaculture Research Director of Aquatic Farms Ltd in Hawaii, USA. Dr. Tacon earned his Ph.D. in 1978 from University College, Cardiff and his B.Sc. in 1973 from Westfield College, University of London. A British national, Dr. Tacon has over 35 years of applied research, training and field experience in aquaculture nutrition and feed technology, including fourteen years of employment and work experience with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) within National, Regional and Inter-regional Aquaculture Development Projects. Dr. Tacon has over 41 in-country work experiences with FAO & other agencies in aquaculture/nutrition/aquafeed development, and over 199 publications on aquaculture, including publications on food security and poverty alleviation, aquaculture nutrition and feeding, and FAO training manuals. Dr. Tacon is an Affiliate Research Faculty member at the Hawaiian Institute of Marine Biology, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Affiliate Professor of Aquaculture, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management, University of Hawaii at Hilo. He also serves as Scientific Advisor on Aquatic Resources to the International Foundation for Science in Stockholm, Sweden (since 1998). Dr. Tacon is Editor in Chief of Reviews in Aquaculture, and also serves on the editorial board of Aquaculture Nutrition and Aquaculture Research.

Rick McWhorter, MBA

Rick has over 25 years of experience in the Medical Device Industry, most recently as Vice President of Operations for Boston Scientific Corporation. In addition to direct responsibility for multiple Boston Scientific manufacturing operations, Rick was in charge of starting up a new plant in Costa Rica. Within two years, the plant went from a Greenfield initiative to over 1300 employees, and the construction of a second 300,000 square foot facility was initiated. Prior to Boston Scientific, Rick was Senior Vice President of Operations and Corporate Officer for MedSource Technologies from 2001 through 2003. MedSource was a start up contract manufacturing company and Rick was part of the senior management team, growing the company from zero to over $200 Million in sales and executing a successful IPO. Most of Rick’s career was at Baxter Healthcare where he served for 23 years in manufacturing, finance, information technology and supply chain management. His last role was as Vice President of Global Manufacturing, where he was directly responsible for up to 14 plants with locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Singapore, Canada, and Europe. Rick holds a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from Delta State University.
